FIRST EVER WENTWORTH PARK FUN FEST

LOCATION: Wentworth Park
DATE: June 10th, 2006
TIME: 12 PM

Wondering what to do with the splendid spring days coming your way? Are you curious about all the new changes that have happened in Wentworth Park?

Wonder no more. The Friends of Wentworth Park Society and the Cape Breton Regional Municipality invite you to join us Saturday, June 10th, 2006 for the first ever Wentworth Park Fun Fest. The Friends of Wentworth Park Society formed a year ago with the mission of bringing people back to the park. Wayne Weatherbee is chair of the Friends of Wentworth Park Society. He says it'll be great to see everyone gather. "After months of anticipation and construction in the park, we're excited to invite the public to celebrate with us in the renewed Wentworth Park," says Weatherbee.

Wentworth Park's Fun Fest will kick off with an official opening of the renovated end of the park at 12:00 noon. Then the park will explode with a flurry of activities. Music will be the backbone of the day's events, with tunes from The Tom Fun Orchestra, The Juice, Neil MacPhee, Alicia Penney and the Responsibility Band, Ashego, Rock Ranger, Eric Angus Whyte, the Chelle Smith Band and more.

In addition to the music, there will be eco-games for kids of all ages, an introductory Tai Chi class, a plant sale, vendors on hand selling their wares, face painters, a bike clinic from Velo Cape Breton, info booths and games from ACAP and live theatre from the local group, Improv U. Painters, artisans, and writers are encouraged to come and take part in a day, which promises to inspire. So to all, bring a blanket, pack a picnic, or just take a stroll - it's time to come, explore, learn and enjoy.
